Delete your account
You can delete your Varuno account and all associated data from inside the app. Deletion is permanent.
Before you start
There is no cloud copy of your finances — deletion cannot be undone by support. If you might want your records later, export a backup first and store it somewhere safe.
Steps
- Open Varuno and go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account.
- Type the confirmation text when asked.
- Re-authenticate — deletion always requires fresh proof it’s you.
- Wait for confirmation. The app then signs you out.
What happens, in order
- Server: a deletion service removes your authentication account and your profile row (name, country, base currency). It acts only on your authenticated identity — no other data is sent to invoke it.
- Device: the local vault is destroyed key first, then the database file. If the process were interrupted between the two, what remains on the device is unreadable ciphertext, not your data.
- Documents: any kept document copies and import working files live in the app’s private storage — remove them beforehand via Settings → Data → Local Storage, or they are removed along with the app when you uninstall it.
Retention timelines
How long residual traces (such as the account service’s own infrastructure backups) persist after deletion is being confirmed and will be stated here precisely rather than guessed: [DELETION_TIMELINES_REQUIRED].
If you cannot sign in to delete your account
A manual deletion process for users who cannot sign in is being defined. Until the dedicated support address ([SUPPORT_EMAIL_REQUIRED]) is live, use the contact form with the “Account problem” type. You will never be asked for your password.
If deletion fails
An error after confirmation usually means a network or service outage. Try again with a stable connection. If it keeps failing, contact support and include the time of the attempt (UTC if possible).
